Featured Slider
As you probably noticed, Evenflow is demonstrating a “featured slider” on the front page of this demo which is is controlled from the WordPress admin section located in the Evenflow Theme Options. Under the Featured Slider tab you’ll see the Featured Slider Settings panel.
Preparation
The first thing to do is decide what type of slide you want to display. Each slide is controlled by Pages. We’ve tried to make this as versatile as possible for both power users and those new to WordPress.
Option A: Allows you to manually enter in your own text and images ins the Wordpress Page write panels. You can insert an image and some text while making sure the content fits nicely into the specified height of your slider. This way, anything you add before the <!–more–> tag is shown in the slider. When the user clicks the slide’s “Read more..” link they are taken to the page where the remaining content underneath the <!–more–> tag is displayed.
Option B: Allows you to use the Custom Image Field (Page Image Settings) box to specify the URL to the image. This option is great for designers who want to show a single custom graphic or photo. The slider will automatically resize your image according to the height attribute in the Featured Slider Settings panel. Try to keep the images at the same aspect ratio for best scaling. When the user clicks the image they are taken to the page where the content of the write panel is displayed. The image is shown at the top of the page and (if enabled) will display the full size image in a PrettyPhoto lightbox modal window.
Assigning Pages to Slides
To assign a Page to a slide, go to your Pages panel and add a new or edit an existing entry according to your slider settings mentioned above. Take note of the Page ID as you will need to enter a comma separated list in the Featured Slider Settings.
